Two female entrepreneurs have launched an exciting new training company in the Fylde Coast. The company has been formed by Coral Horn and Rae Stephenson who have each worked for 20 years in the sales industry. What makes them unique is they train from their knowledge, understanding and most importantly experience. They both started their careers on the shop floor and successfully rose to senior management positions within blue chip companies, one of which was BT. They have worked in various sectors including newspapers, magazines, exhibitions, web and printed directories market and nu media products. This extent of experience has given them a broad knowledge of these industries.  Responsible for large teams of people and multi

million pound targets, they were head hunted by rival companies such as 118 118.  After setting up the sales force, and writing and conducting eight day induction courses for all new employees around the Uk and Ireland, these energetic ladies decided to take on a fresh challenge.
“We had reached the stage in our careers, where we both felt it was time to give ourselves a new challenge. With the experience we had gained we could have moved from one company to another and although demanding new roles, we wanted a more personal challenge.” said client consultant, Coral Horn. “With the experience we had gained from working within large blue chip companies, we recognized what an asset that would be to SME’s, who previously may not have been able to afford or have access to this type of training.”

The training that Acumen Sales Training provides is a solid proven sales structure that can work for business to business, or business to consumer, and is delivered in a simple way and adaptable to any business. Rae Stephenson the Training Manager told me, “It was important for us to ensure that companies could easily put our training into practice in their own business environments. This ensures that it is easy for them to use and has a clear benefit to them”.
They also deliver telephone sales training and management courses, but one of their unique areas is bespoke training for businesses.

After a free consultation they will present a bespoke proposal of training that specifically compliments the products, services and structure of a company. Rae explained, “Most training companies offer “off the shelf” products, a bit like one size fits all. We understand that every businesses needs are different and we intend to meet those needs as effectively as possible.”
These ladies offer in house training and also open courses in the North West area. They are currently working for the Business Venture Group providing workshops which will help other entrepreneurs with their new ventures. The Chamber of Commerce has also retained their services to provide training for their members at their new offices located at Squires Gate.
Acumen also have access to certain funding streams and can advise businesses on what is available to them in our local area to assist them with training costs. “We have been extremely lucky to qualify as training providers for some of the government funding streams. It can offer our customers some support with their training budget, and means that training is easily affordable for them” Coral told me. “All of our courses are accredited by the Institute of Leadership Management (ILM), this has enabled us to be recognized as a quality firm and be referred by agencies such as Business Link.”
